Enrolment is the process you need to complete to become an official Kingston University student. There are several steps to complete, including online enrolment and student check in.

When can I move into my student accommodation?
Your halls licence will indicate your expected move-in date, but please check our website for further details by scrolling to the Moving in section on our Halls of residence page. If you’re required to book a move in slot, details on how to do so will be emailed to you over the summer.
How do I book a room?
Applications for halls of residence are now open. If you’ve accepted a Conditional Firm (CF) or Unconditional Firm (UF) offer for a full-time course, you should have been contacted by email and invited to apply.

How do I pay my rent?
Accommodation fees are normally paid for in three instalments through a Recurring Card Payment. A £250 advanced payment is required at the time of booking, and this will be deducted from your first instalment. More information can be found on the website.
Is there parking in my halls of residence?
We have limited free parking in most of our halls of residence (except 71-75 Penrhyn Road and Seething Wells). Permits are required for parking at our halls of residence and information on how to apply can be found here: . Permits for the 2025/26 academic year should open in late August.
What should I pack?
Moving into your student room in halls is exciting, but what should you bring with you when you make your move to university? Please check our Moving in section on the Halls of residence page where you can find lots of information about what is already provided and what we recommend you bring with you.
I have a disability; how do I access support?
Our Disability and Mental Health Service co-ordinate support arrangements and resources to enable disabled students to benefit fully from their time at Ji8¸£ÀûÍø. Students with Long-Term Health Conditions, Mental Health Conditions, Physical or Sensory Impairments, Neurodivergent Conditions e.g. Autism and ADHD and Specific Learning Differences, such as Dyslexia, are all entitled to support. Please email the disability team on [email protected] or call +44 (0)20 8417 6000 to discuss how we can support you.
We’d also encourage Disabled Students to apply for the as soon as possible. This is additional support external to the university which is available to assist you (if eligible). DSA Applications can take up to 14 weeks to be approved, so apply as soon as possible.
I require support in university accommodation, how do I go about setting this up?
If you haven’t done so already, we would advise you register with the Disability and Mental Health Service. Please email the disability team on [email protected] or call +44 (0)20 8417 6000 to discuss how we can support you.
When you’re invited to apply for accommodation, please complete the additional support requirements form and the team will review the adjustments that we’re able to make. We may need to liaise with you further if we have any questions regarding the support you need.
I am looking to be diagnosed with a disability. What support do you offer with this?
The Disability and Mental Health Service only offers support for enrolled students with obtaining a diagnosis of a Specific Learning Difference e.g. Dyslexia. If you’re seeking a Dyslexia Assessment, then please email [email protected] after you’ve completed your enrolment to begin this process.
If you’re seeking a diagnosis for any other condition e.g. Autism or ADHD, unfortunately we’re unable to assist with diagnosing this. We’d recommend contacting your GP to discuss an assessment referral.

How and when do I pay my undergraduate fees?
Your tuition fees will depend on the course you’re studying. Get the breakdown of our undergraduate tuition fees for full-time students and part-time students.
International students will need to pay a minimum of 50% of their course fees in cleared funds prior to enrolment. You can find out more information on the international student finance page.

How and when do I pay my postgraduate fees?

How and when do I get my student loan?
Your Tuition Fee Loan is paid directly to Ji8¸£ÀûÍø at the start of each term. Maintenance Loan payments are paid into your bank account at the start of each term. The first Maintenance Loan payment will be made once we have confirmed you have enrolled.
What payment options are available to me if I am not getting an undergraduate tuition fee loan?
Before your enrolment can be completed, you’ll need to have organised how you’ll be paying for your tuition fees. See our webpage to find out the different payment options available.
I haven't applied for my undergraduate student loan yet - can I still apply?
Yes, always apply as early as you can to ensure your finances are in place for the start of your course. See for step-by step guidance on what to do next.
I haven't applied for my postgraduate student loan yet - can I still apply?
Home students can still apply for a postgraduate loan. You need to apply within nine months of the first day of the last academic year of the course. See for step-by step guidance on what to do next.
I need help with my student finance application. Who can I ask?
You can make an appointment with a money advisor in the Student Life team. Please see our webpage for details of making an appointment.
How do I request a CAS number?
You can request your Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) number via the Online Student Information System (OSIS). This can be done up to six months prior to your course start date, if you've accepted an unconditional offer and uploaded all your supporting documents. See our webpage on CAS requests for a list of the documents you need to provide to request your CAS.
After our CAS team has checked your supporting documents, and you have approved your draft CAS, you’ll receive a copy of your final CAS statement by email (the CAS statement is a paperless 'e-document'). This will usually be within 10 working days but can take up to 15 working days during peak times.
Can I request my CAS during the UCAS embargo?
If you hold a firm unconditional offer for an undergraduate course and haven't yet requested your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS ), you’ll be able to do so in-between UCAS embargos (after 9am (BST) on 8 August until 2pm (BST) on14 August 2025). If you don't yet have your results, please upload them on OSIS as soon as possible.
If you hold a firm unconditional offer for a postgraduate course and have applied directly to us, you can request your CAS now. Please don't delay, so you’re able to arrive in time for Welcome and Induction on 22 September 2025.
Is there a taxi pick-up service?
We subsidise the cost of a taxi to the Kingston upon Thames area. See our arrivals and orientation page for details on how to book.
Can I open a bank account before I arrive in the UK?
To open most UK bank accounts, you normally need to be a UK resident first. For information about what documents you'll need to open an account, visit our Pre-arrival page.
I am having difficulties uploading a document or image for my ID check. Can you help?
If you’re having problems uploading a document to complete your ID check, please log an IT Service Desk enquiry through our IT service desk portal or via the KU mobile app.
You can also contact our IT service desk by telephone or online chat. Please have your K number ready when you contact the team (e.g. K123456).
How do I pick up my ID card?
All international students need to complete a post arrival in-person check-in with their documents when collecting their ID card. You can do this at the Information Centre at either Townhouse at Penrhyn Road or the Nightingale Centre at Kingston Hill.
Please note that you can attend your course induction without a student ID.
What documents do I need to bring for my in-person check-in?
- Passport(s)
- Home Office visa approval letter (Decision Letter)
- E-ticket or a paper or electronic boarding pass showing the date you arrived in the UK (you only need to provide this if you entered the UK through an eGate at the airport)
- Your digital immigration status or a ‘share code’ to prove your settled or pre-settled status (if applicable).
When does my course start?
All students are expected to arrive in time for Welcome Week (which includes your mandatory Course Induction, which takes place 22 - 26 September 2025). If your course starts earlier than this, your faculty will contact you with more information.
How can I find my course teaching timetable?
You’ll be able to access your teaching timetable once you’re enrolled and assigned to your modules. You’ll be able to view your personal teaching timetable via , Outlook via your KU account, or using the KU app and also in SEAtS (Check in App).
Depending on your course, it may take up to 48 hours (not including weekends) for you to see your timetable. It may take time for the full timetable to emerge as you are added to modules.
When can I see my timetable?
After completing your online enrolment (from TBC), your individual teaching timetable for the academic year will start to emerge – it may take a little time, as you are added to each module. Your full teaching timetable should be fully published before Welcome Week begins.
Where can I find my course induction schedule?
Your course induction schedule shows all your compulsory course induction activity. It’s different from your teaching timetable.
Your course induction schedule will be available to view on the Welcome section of the KU App from early July 2025.
Do I have to attend my course induction?
Course induction sessions are mandatory as they form a key part of your introduction to the course and the University.
How My Timetable Works
How can I travel between campuses?
Our free intersite bus service connects you to all four of our campuses and, importantly, to Kingston and Surbiton train stations.
Plus, there are live updates on the Ji8¸£ÀûÍø app so you don't have to worry about missing one!
Can I park on campus?
At Kingston Hill, parking is only available to students if Kingston Hill is your main campus of study. You can apply for a free ‘Kingston Hill' parking permit via My Kingston (our student portal) once you have completed your enrolment.
Student parking is not available at our Penrhyn Road, Knights Park or Roehampton Vale campuses during core working hours (7.30am to 4.30pm). However, outside these hours students can apply for a free ‘evening' parking permit and use the limited parking at Penrhyn Road, Knights Park, Roehampton Vale and Kingston Hill campus on a first-come, first-served basis.
You’ll be required to hold a valid parking permit or risk receiving a penalty. You can apply for a free parking permit via the My Kingston student portal once you have completed your enrolment.

Plan your Welcome Week
To give you a chance to settle in, make new friends and find your way around campus before teaching starts, we have a whole week full of Welcome and Induction activities planned for you. It's made up of several parts and is all about getting you set up and settled into Kingston!
1. Course induction
Your Course Induction is crucial in getting you ready for your course. You’ll meet the staff who will teach and support you, find out more about what you’ll be studying and how you’ll be assessed and meet other students from your course. You’ll find the schedule for your course via the KUApp from early July 2025.
2. Browse and book Welcome Week events
As well as Freshers’, the University runs a Welcome programme long side your course induction. It’s a mixture of pop-ups and bookable events (which are all free to attend) and will introduce you to some of the opportunities you'll have as a Kingston student, help you settle into life at the University and gives you the opportunity to meet new friends and have some fun! Everything is designed to fit around your course induction and to let you pick and choose based on your interest.
Activities include comedy night, academic writing, sessions specifically for international students, sports pop-ups, sessions on finding part-time work, Paint & Sip arts social, Speed Friending, live music and more.
The full Welcome programme will be published in early July.
3. Familiarise yourself with the support on offer by completing our Welcome to Kingston online module
The Welcome to Kingston online module gives you an introduction to the support services available should you need it.
You'll be able to access the online module on Canvas, our virtual online learning environment, once you have completed your online enrolment in August.
Once you’ve arrived on campus
There's a lot to navigate during your first few weeks at university, whether it's getting your head around the new digital tools you'll be using as a student or knowing where to go and who to speak to if you have any questions once you're here. Don't worry, you'll find many friendly faces on campus ready to help.
To get you acquainted with your campus, tours will be running during Welcome Week. They'll leave from the Welcome Help Points at 10am and 2pm at every campus, from Monday 22 January to Friday 26 September.
There is no sign-up required, but numbers for each tour will be capped at a maximum of 12 people (allocated on a first-come basis).
Please make sure you wear comfortable shoes.
Our on-campus Welcome Help points should be your first stop if you have questions or are not sure where to go. We've got a wonderful bunch of friendly Student Ambassadors who will be ready to give you directions, answer your questions (or just have a chat!)

After Welcome and Induction Week, the Information Centre will serve as a first point of contact for any questions you have. They can be found in the libraries on each campus and contacted by phone and digital channels.
We've got FREE Welcome to Kingston starter packs which can be picked up during your course induction activities. They contain a re-useable canvas bag (designed by a KU student), notebook, pen and other useful stuff to get you started.

Your digital toolkit
To ensure you're ready to start at Ji8¸£ÀûÍø, and to prepare for your Welcome Week, we want to highlight some of the key digital tools and applications you will need. You'll use these a lot as a student, so it's definitely worth getting to know them early!
The KU mobile app allows you to access key information and services that you may find useful for your academic, co-curricular and social activities. The app will also keep you up to date with important information and messages. There's also a section dedicated just for Welcome Week.
When will I get access?
You can access the Welcome section without a username and password (from 1 August 2025). Once you've enrolled you will be able to switch to the Student profile.
How to get the Ji8¸£ÀûÍø app
- Download the app by searching ‘Ji8¸£ÀûÍø' in your app store.
- To log in, enter your Ji8¸£ÀûÍø username, (e.g. K123456), and your password. You won't need a username or password to access the dedicated Welcome section.
You can also .
Canvas is Ji8¸£ÀûÍø's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). This platform is used by staff and students to support you throughout your modules and courses. You can access it via a web browser and through the mobile app.
When will I get access?
You will be able to access Canvas once you have completed your online enrolment.
How to access Canvas
- Open the .
- Use your Ji8¸£ÀûÍø email address (e.g. [email protected]) and the password you use to log in to OSIS.
OR
Search "Canvas" in your app store. Once the app is installed on your device:
- Enter 'Ji8¸£ÀûÍø' in the 'Find your school or district' text box.
- Select the 'Ji8¸£ÀûÍø' link that appears
- Use your Ji8¸£ÀûÍø email address (e.g. [email protected]) and the password you use to log in to OSIS.
is our online events platform. Once you officially join us, this is where you'll find all the events and activities that run at Kingston. The Welcome programme is available to view on KUextra now!
When will I get access?
You can browse events on KUextra now, but you will only be able to book events once you have completed your online enrolment.
How to access KUextra
Head to the , log in using your Kingston ID number and password and get booking!
is our intranet for students. It contains a wide range of useful information about life at the University. The site contains the latest Ji8¸£ÀûÍø news, information about your faculty and timetable, the library, the students' union and accommodation along with the full range of resources and support services available to you.
When will I get access?
You will be able to access My Kingston once you have completed your online enrolment.
How to access My Kingston
You can access using the same login information as Canvas and OSIS – your Ji8¸£ÀûÍø username followed by ‘@kingston.ac.uk' (e.g. [email protected]) and your password.
Once you've completed your online enrolment, you'll gain access to your university Ji8¸£ÀûÍø email address. This is the email address the University will use to communicate with you during your time hereat Kingston. You'll also be able to use it to activate other software including the Office 365 package.
Your email address will be your K number followed by @kingston.ac.uk (e.g. [email protected]).
You can access your email address on a web browser by going to or setting your email up on the Outlook mobile app (available in your phone's App Store).
To access University resources, you'll need to set up Multi Factor Authentication. Follow these simple steps:
- Go to and sign in with your username and password.
- There are two ways to set up Multi Factor Authentication – either by installing the Microsoft Authenticator App on your phone or by receiving a text message.
- If using the app, you can follow the instructions on screen or if you want to receive a text message with a code select the "I want to set up a different method" option below the main text.
- With either method, follow the instructions and once you've completed them, you'll be asked to authenticate.
We offer free Wi Fi, Eduroam, at all our campuses.
To connect you'll need to sign in using your username, which is your K number followed by @kingston.ac.uk ([email protected]) and then your password.
If you've forgotten your password, you can use our online . You must supply the personal email address you have recorded via OSIS/enrolment.
- Check your personal email account, as you will receive a 'Ji8¸£ÀûÍø Account Support Request' email from Ji8¸£ÀûÍø Support.
- Open the email, follow the link, enter your new password and submit.
- You can now log in with your new password.
